Increasing voter turn out is a worthy and important goal of voter engagement work (voter registration, issue education, get out the vote, voter protection, etc.) especially for those who are still dramatically under-represented in the voting and policymaking arena. But if voter mobilization is the only goal, the trade-offs we make in a civic engagement campaign and over time can lead to losing power, not gaining it.

We can use campaigns – instead of being used by them to:

  • Build community leadership
  • Engage new voters both old and new
  • Begin to shift the balance of power in our communities and in our government.

These trainings will present concrete steps and actions we can take to redefine the way we do voter engagement work so that we can start building long-term progressive community power.

PLEASE RSVP to mary@tnca.org if you are planning on attending.
